Stay Warm and Safe this Winter

Before you go to the store to exchange that large, warm, wool sweater for an exciting Wii game, you may want to think twice. Weather forecasters and the Farmer’s Almanac are both predicting a bitter cold winter for 2010. Cold weather poses many risks to you and your home, so it’s important to take steps in preparation of the long winter ahead.

Many may believe that ice and snow storms cause the most damage to homes during the winter season, in fact; the frigid weather can be just as damaging. Doing a simple inspection around your home, including inspection of your heating system, may prevent hundreds of dollars in home repair. Speaking of heating systems, did you know that each year around the country, there are more than 4,000 deaths and 20,000 injuries attributed to fires and many of those fires can be traced to home heating sources.
