Motorsports Academy Race Team
Fans can’t miss the Farm Bureau Insurance logo displayed prominently on a hood and rounding the track under the lights at South Boston Speedway. Supporting a race team in the racing-rich region of Southside Virginia is prime exposure for any sponsor, but for Farm Bureau Insurance this sponsorship endeavor is worth more than just a splash on a fender and a few left turns in front of potential customers.
Farm Bureau Insurance is the primary sponsor of the Motorsports Academy Race Team, an education-based initiative created and implemented by Halifax County Public Schools. The program allows students enrolled in motorsports classes at Halifax County High School the chance to work as the pit crew for an active race team at South Boston Speedway.
The sponsorship also includes a $1,000 scholarship awarded during each of the two race seasons to the student meeting the scholarship criteria.
“We feel very positive about this community-based initiative. Our support of this program is our promise to the students of Halifax County that we support them, their interests and their abilities as they move forward with their education,” said Farm Bureau Insurance Executive Vice President and General Manager Richard Rivers.
The race team program is part of the Halifax County Public Schools’ overall Motorsports Academy, which is designed to harness students’ interest in the racing industry, provide important career skills, and reinforce fundamental classes such as math and science.
“There’s been a lot of response from fans at the race track. People are excited about cheering for the Motorsports Academy Race Team because they are familiar with Farm Bureau Insurance,” said Halifax County Public Schools Superintendent. “We are continuously getting positive feedback and we are so pleased to have Farm Bureau Insurance play an important and prominent role in this program.”
“We like knowing that our customers can cheer on these students for their hard work, and there’s no question that this opportunity benefits the lives and educations of these students,” Rivers said. “Farm Bureau is always proud to support communities in the Commonwealth and the educational programs that help those communities grow.”
